Hi Brooke If then plan is to fully renovate then go for it...! It will be just fine. A new finish on the floor will lift it too. Doing the floor before the skirting boards will save skirting getting damaged and having to touch up paint. You can find a white to go with your grey by reducing the grey down untill its white then you won't have clashing undertones. Other wise check with your paint store for the whites to compliment your grey choice. :)

Ania, funnily enough I almost posted this very tongue-in-cheek comment: 'If anyone ever finds a fail-safe way to keep dust out of homes in this country I would like to know!' We live in very dusty regional area and have shadow-line skirting. It looks great but it does catch dust. I have a thin attachment on vacuum which I use to help remove it, but it's not perfect solution. Even though it's a new build and I'd like everything to be perfect 'as new,' I've decided not to sweat the small stuff in life, and get myself outdoors instead.

You didn't mention your spectacular honey-coloured plywood ceiling which is a beautiful feature. I think that stained timber skirtings and architraves will detract from your ceiling, especially as they will be a different timber, colour and look to your ceiling. You have white walls, you have white windows, why would you introduce a contrasting timber element in the form of an architrave? The only answer is to paint the skirtings and architraves in the same colour as your wall, so that they "disappear". The concrete floor, the timber ceiling and the raked ceiling have enough visual interest and you don't need any more. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls

brick wall so no option for cavity sliders gas heaters are already in that middle wall as marked, old heaters i think i need to service them as not sure when its serviced last also has two split aircons on both rooms on the far end no weather seals on entry doors, i can feel cold air is coming under some doors, where can i get the seals or is there someone who can come nd check all doors/windows and seal them tin flat room with not much space in between. I think there is insulation in the middle if not its very hard to do anything without opening up the roof sheets. We have double roller blinds on one side. No curtains on patio door(kitchen).
