Comments (4)I think it depends a whole lot on lifestyle and cooking habits., not to mention the size of the scullery. I've got a butlers pantry, with sink, but aside from rinsing the odd veggie there, I hardly ever use the sink. I don't do prep there because I'd rather be out in the much more spacious kitchen: the pantry provides storage but it doesnt have the working counterspace that the kitchen does, and it's an inconvenient distance from oven and range. I know plenty of people who do use the scullery as the others have described, but mine is essentially a nice large pantry, sink optional....See MoreHelp me with my new butlers pantry design
Comments (17)Personally I love angles & splays, BUT they have to have purpose and be functional. Without seeing more surrounding context hard to comment but i can't help wondering why this all being so squeezed in one area, but then almost wasted/under-utilised space in-between the island and the table - it's like the pantry's boxing/internalising the kitchen which is not ideal.....either way I'd make sure that it flows and is functional and not awkward anywhere...See MoreScullery configuration concern
Comments (19)I'd personally decide on whether I needed a scullery at all. They are fashionable but do you need one? Or is a pantry really what you are after? These are homes not restaurants or hotels. It's all about where you would prefer to be while you go about daily life. What's your kitchen for if you don't plan to cook in it? Making tea and coffee? You could create a wet bar that that. In years to come people will be buying houses and ripping out the butlers pantry's and sculleries because they are wasted space that could have created a more optimal layout in the kitchen. A friend's house has one and she's set it up with breakfast appliances, toaster, coffee maker etc. TBH it's a pain to go and stand in a cupboard to make breakfast, then bring it out to eat it....See MoreDesign Advice Please! Comments (5)Have a think about how you use your current kitchen, the good and the bad. Will a Butler’s Pantry enhance the good and remove the bad? I’m very much looking forward to my future walk in pantry but have spent many hours considering how I will use it. I won’t be doing daily food preparation in there. For me I’ll have a large storage area, some open shelves and a large bench space with all my appliances plugged in and ready to go. The two of you won’t make much mess to be concealed from each other, and when family are there I’m assuming there are more people in the kitchen so bench space is more important that the Butlers. But only you know how you live and cook. PS. I love Studio McGee also, season two of theirs is due out soon....See MoreKate
