Comments (23)A guest bedroom should be inviting and relaxing but walking into a room with dbl. lge mirrors and seeing yourself twice on every occasion is not my idea of inviting. The chest is nice, how does that tone with the bedset? Could that be put on the wall opposite the curtains, add new crystal knobs and put a tiny chair offside with it and a small picture above with timber frame. How about a quilted beadhead in med. weight fabric to match the colour in the quilt (not navy) and do you need tables each side of bed? Don't know room size. Don't change things except for some plain cushions, some to match a small lamp. And please, no silver paint! :-( a quilted bedhead in...See MoreWall art? Mirror? Comments (27)To Ella Kate Thrupp....."a woven piece"...as in a wall rug or a tapestry suggested by yours truly and Tribbletrouble441452k7 Trek? Or maybe you have a more novel idea in mind? Have you come across any "woven" art in your professional travels? I have a friend who actually weaves tapestries on a loom as they did centuries ago thread by thread. They are exquisite and each a unique artwork. She works professionally on commission Very time consuming, meticulous and expensive and she also does it simply for relaxation and sells them. Wonder would there be anything along this line available commercially today? Such a "woven piece" would make an enormous impact in any room, so beautiful and unique in a bedroom especially if a design woven to order...but Yikes $$$$$. Afterthought...a painted MURAL designed to order might be a touch of luxury if you engaged somebody to do it and they presented you with a series of pictures for you to choose from.....that would not fall down! I did one for a friend's guest donga in Charleville QLD...she wanted a fantasy and had a lot of input herself, it was a collaborative effort and she got exactly what she wanted. Can't go wrong with a mural...can always paint over it when you want something different....See MoreSmall courtyard ideas
Comments (17)I would create a tall wall of privacy along your back fence, perhaps by running a line of potted pencil pines, magnolia, or similar classic screening plant you might like. The pots become the feature then, with a line of trees giving nice symmetry and greenery there, while not detracting from your lovely paving which is a feature in itself (infact, the eye will run along this paving to that back fence, so I don't think the back fence should be too busy). Your retaining wall could become your feature garden ie. you could cap it and then hang here your existing plants, a mirror, maybe even just a simple sculpture or fountain against that wall depending on your taste. What is your taste Jannie, as perhaps Houzzers can give more specific suggestions if you nominate whether you prefer traditional, contemporary or minimalist outdoor rooms/gardens?...See MoreSmall main bedroom in apartment
Comments (9)- Wall mounted bedside tables. The space under the tables will make the room look bigger. Keep the top of these uncluttered with 1-2 small items at the most. - Instead of table lamps, put small pendant lights hanging from the ceiling on each side of the bed. This will highlight the vertical space in the room. - Get a new bed that has storage underneath it and is as low to the floor as possible with a simple, non-bulky bedhead. Keep bed linen simple. If you didn't need hidden storage underneath, a metal bedframe would work well visually as you can see through the bars. - I'm a bit unsure about this suggestion but a slim and long rectangular mirror on the wall behind the bed may also give the impression of more space due to reflecting light....See MoreB
