How do I make my new house look like a finished, cosy home?
Comments (63)Hi, your home looks pretty good, you have done a lot on the interiors. Coming back to the question, yes, you can add a wallpaper behind the television, go for a textured wallpaper as it will create a compliment to your television. As you have decorated with wooden elements, you can go with a bookshelf on the wall. And, there is one more thing which will be a simple addition but will look perfect and that is an antique wall clock. An antique wall clock will make your wall look great without any fuss....See MoreWhich style era could you never have in your house?
Comments (79)Oh C'mon V Richards...every epoch has its treasures. B4 you make a mad run for it stop a while and consider the period and the reasons for the style...it can be extremely enlightening....unless its not the period you want to escape from but from some of the opinions. I spent many years of my youth outside of Australia living surrounded by old ruins in Europe. I forgot what it was like here. When finally I returned to Australia and found myself living in some of the 60s and 70s places..I found much to admire and wonder about. I may not have fallen in love with much of it but there was a certain mistique and a feel that I can still conjure when talking about certain places. Not saying that it was all romantic and pleasant but it conveyed something of the era and the kind of Aussie from those days....See MoreWhat are your best tips for making your small space bigger?
Comments (15)The last home we had was a very small workers cottage so I kept the walls a light off white, table and to unit tops were gloss white to bounce the light around. My dining chairs and bar stools were clear acrylic so that I could see through them, the ends of my island bench/brekky bar were mirrored and my curtains were textured white sheers so that they also didn't take up too much visual room. All of my furniture was on legs so that I could see under it and the lounge room rug was pulled away from the lounge just a teeny bit so that I could see a little bit of timber flooring all the way round it, that all made the floor size look just a bit bigger. Bedrooms had mirrored wardrobe doors and bathroom was almost completely white (except for dark floor) and had frameless shower screen and oversized vanity mirror to reflect as much light as possible. Friends and visitors would comment that the house was bigger than they had imagined from the outside.......it wasn't, it was just styled inside to make it look larger....See MoreLooking forward to your feedback on this floor plan
Comments (29)In Victoria our planning scheme has min dimensions for rooms in apartments and for garages. Single garage 3.5x6m. Bedroom 3x3,6m includes space for robes. Aim for 2 living spaces or a bedroom that can be second living space in a large house. The current trend for open plan kitchen dining family has everyone in one space which can be noisy and intrusive if no other space available. Toilets. Large family house needs 2 toilets all can use. Burying one away on ensuite results in need for a third Do a furniture plan for dining a family including storage. I find drawing up all items to scale cutting them out an placing on plan the easiest way to look at options. Include your fireplace as a cut out. You need to be able to accommodate everyone. Tv? I suggest talking directly to an architect to refine your plan. A house is a major investment so cost of architect justified. Also look at volume builders plans on internet and go see their display homes...See MoreUser
