Is a small walk in pantry annoying?
Comments (13)Louise, I love the door idea on that appliance cupboard pic you shared - that has been a dilemma too so thank you. How wide do you reckon that appliance cabinet is? I'm looking at the second freezer position in my plan - I put it there cuz I reckon it's the siberia end of the kitchen and it will be a pain if the main fridge is all the way up there.... Plus it doesn't take up precious room in a walk in pantry (need room for door to open too). At the moment the back wall is symmetrical hence why the appliance cupboard is a strange 832 wide! Good news is I've minimised (even further!) what's going to be in the laundry (that will be like a cupboard now, but hey a compromise to get a decent pantry) as walk in pantry is much higher priority, so I think I have lots of room for a decent pantry - will post pic once I've drawn it :-)...See MoreHello 2016 Kitchen! Is a white kitchen dead?
Comments (45)No, I'm sorry, but it doesn't work for me at all. That unrelieved expanse of shiny white is quite disorienting. You don't quite know where the light is coming from. But the colour isn't the main problem here. Although it isn't pretty, the "before" kitchen actually has a lot going for it. The new kitchen has the benches all at the same height, which is a problem because different kitchen tasks are most comfortable at different heights. The surface that houses your sink needs to be relatively high so that when you're using the sink you don't have to bend your back. That's uncomfortable! Conversely, a cutting surface is better if it's relatively low, because that way you can control the knife better. It's a safety thing. The new kitchen has the cooktop and the sink under wall-mounted cupboards. You're absolutely sure the extractor fan whisks all the steam and particulates out of there? Most don't, you know. And with the cupboards at that height, if you're standing close enough to cook or wash up can you see to the back of the bench? No, it's not you, it's the design. Look at the old kitchen. It has surfaces at a variety of heights, and although the sink is under a cupboard you can stir the sauce on the stove without bumping your head, I think. I could be totally wrong about this. The featured kitchen might be a joy to work in. I do think, though, that this does not look like a kitchen designed by a cook....See Morepainting colourbond successful??please help
Comments (7)Thankyou so much for your advice, Lesley H and 'Lick light and colour'..as the house is 80s, in some ways would like to keep the original roof colour, its not 'on trend',but thought I might paint fascias in shale grey or woodland grey. The house is cobbled brick and timber clad along front(low maintenance!)...on a rural block of 11 acres...also better for the budget!!!what do you think???...See MoreHi everyone Choc Brown lounge again.
Comments (68)Thank you everyone, lots of shopping, many shops seen. I have pulled this look together. I am not sure about the heavy textured throw. Just walked in with it, thinking a white pot with a plant in the corner by the window. I wanted to find the beige colour in the blue cushion, a much darker colour than the plain one l found to the left of it. Take care everyone. Sue...See MoreAstri Merianti
