Would you rather: No dishwasher or no air-con?
Comments (41)Lorraine, even though this is an old post, I thought I would put my two cents in. I’m with you. My husband and I have been married for over 30 years, and he washes the dishes and I dry them, every night. We have our own business and family and are buggered at the end of the day, but this is our time to talk about the day and get ready for tomorrow. Our dishwasher also wasn’t working, apparently it was because we weren’t using it enough. I now use it when we have gatherings or when my daughter decides to cook up a storm! We also only use our aircon when we have had consistently hot days over 35 degrees. I’m in Perth so summer can be hot. However we built our home with solar passive principles in mind, and it definitely makes a difference. So yes I don’t need a dishwasher but an air cooling system does come in handy....See MoreWould bathroom be too big?
Comments (9)I'd like the space you have Jodes, especially the pantry (envious), but am a little concerned at having the media room easily accessed via "mud" room, and being adjacent to the main bedroom... all that "mud", and noise from teenagers??? My other concern is width of the passage - will furniture damage the walls in manoeuvering into bedrooms? I'd perhaps consider incorporating the laundry space and function into the second bathroom (houzz has lots of pics) and eliminating the "mud room". The extra space is preferable for a free-standing bath, but that said, it depends on family set-up. If the bath's for children go for something easily cleaned, if for yourself, maybe re-design the ensuite. All the best!...See MoreWhen renovating should I have 2 small living areas or 1 big area?
Comments (3)just had a look at your existing plans for the second storey.. 1/ I'd make it all open plan .. First I'd move your bed 4 downstairs into the theatre room..reason ? bathroom is existing down there..you can turn it into a master suite..bathroom..study as retreat. which then leave you all that room ..bed 4 ..kitchen ..meals..lounge..foyer to just be one huge living area.. from that living area you can pop in a stacker door/bi folds to lead to your screen verandah. Personally I'd get rid of the screens and open it right up with banisters so you can have fresh air flowing in. You can do the same with the front as well to make it one huge area without much changes....See MoreHelp!! Is the bath room big enough to have a double vanity of 1.5m
Comments (46)@mlk01, You are right about the message button, I have it on my profile but no one else seems to so that's odd! If you click on my profile for example, you will see on the top line right beside the profile picture: Your house, Ideasbook, Bookmarks, Activities, Messages. In fact I remember that when anyone typed a reply like I'm doing now, you used to be able to click a "private" button, which meant only the person you were typing to saw your comment. Perhaps Houzz can answer these anomalies?? I'm not on Facebook or Twitter, never got into it and have no reason to do so anytime soon ha-ha As for talking privately to someone, you could post your email address here as could oklouise and delete it whilst you are still able to edit, as I've done once in the past. Just not sure how long the edit feature lasts....See Moreducks43
