White curtains or very pale grey will keep the light levels high in your room and make a nice backdrop to your furnishings. I think patterned curtains are more casual and with the amount of windows you have, they would make a huge statement in the room. Darker curtains will reduce the light and can make the room look dingy. If you felt you don't want perfectly plain fabric, look for a slub fabric or something with some interest or texture in the weave. You could even have a self stripe which can look very elegant. I have just finished new curtains through my house and did the double track where I could and used a thermal lining that I can pull across to keep the cold out and it worked very well and is also working well now in the heat keeping the rooms cooler - in fact it is amazing some days the amount of heat trapped between the curtains and the windows and kept out of the room. In my bedroom I used a heavy sheer curtain to be able to enjoy the view of the garden while still maintaining privacy and the thermal lining gives me full privacy at night. I'm thinking this could be nice for your room when you have such a lovely outlook too and you do need something to keep the sun off your furniture and furnishings. There are also thermal roller blinds you could use instead of curtain linings, these do darken the room but they work very well. If you use the linings though, there are different weights, I used one pass in my bedroom and other rooms, and it does not darken the room very much at all. In my lounge room where I really needed heat blockout in summer, it was a bit of trial and error - I used triple pass and it does significantly darken the room to the point of totally gloomy - I really don't think I would use it again.

I am a big fan for plantation shutters you will be excited you did! You will make your money back & ease of re sale as people want them .Otherwise... If not With your kitchen get a professional in and get a tint on your window you can see out but they cannot see in until night then a simple blind will suffice. Lounge rm attach to ceiling!!.. to floor sheer curtains with a good colour curtain behind going the whole width of the wall.. bedroom a Roman blind... take advantage of your floor boards and do it properly the first time and save money!

I do spend a lot more time looking at others creations the actually doing something myself! One of the traps of everything shared online. I do love seeing the creations that didn't go as planned too! Hi. There's a few things you're going to need to think about for your curtains. 1. Linen and cotton are natural fibres and will fade over time. Is this an issue for you? There can also be some 'movement' in these fabrics and depending on the heat and humidity, their finished length can change by a few millimetres to a couple of centimetres per day. So make sure you take this into consideration when choosing the length of the curtains. 2. Are the roller blinds fitted inside the window frames or outside/on top? If they're inside fit, that's great, you'll be able to put the curtains in front of the rollers. If not, you'll want to place the curtains behind the rollers, otherwise you'll have to have then sticking quite far out from the wall and it might not be a great look. 3. The pics you've supplied all have different headings. Work out what style of heading you like best, then work through your fabric options. 4. Make sure you purchase the right track/rod for the curtains (the heading style dictates the track/rod). I love the softness sheers add to a room and they look great over roller blinds.
