I love the option to work in a private office while still feeling connected to the larger open plan space. And who doesn't want a huge blackboard to creatively brainstorm?

I agree with strawberry47 but it just makes it like home. You will have to measure the area first your dining chairs have to sit on the rug fully when pulled out on all 4 sides and then add a bit more for good measure otherwise it will pull the rug every time you want to sit. What is really good option is to go to local carpet place ask them to show you what remnants they have and pick nylon if they have it. Rugs are about 4m wide so you only need about 2.5m and get them to overlook to the size you need . They are usually under$100 for a linear metre. It really won't break the bank. Try Carpet court and places like that. Good luck .

What natural light do you get in the room/what orientation? i.e. is it a 'cold' or 'warm' room? If it's a colder room, I'd go with a grey with orange/red undertones to warm it up a bit, or if it's a warm room you could get away with a cooler grey, maybe green undertones to compliment the maroon. Or you could even try a green rather than grey. The Aerobus is a blueish grey so will be cooler. As others have said you would probably want a lighter tone than this for the walls (unless you're purposely going for a dark dramatic mood). 'Miller Mood' is a couple of shades up in the Colour Atlas. Get sample pots and paint a section on each wall, or paint a white bit of card and stick to the wall to see how the light is at different times of day.

Ok, so jarrah in outdoor room is bought, cant be changed. Archtiect wants sikkens mahogany stain as protectant. interior trims are negotiable; Archtiect suggested mdf for ceiling cornices and leaving jarrah for doors, sills and skirting and staining ceiling beam walnut. Fans can be changed. stone for fire place cant. kitchen is black ikea woodgrain, no counter tops , splashbacks or window treatment chosen yet. floors are paid but negotiable on wood type. Window frames and sliding door are actually ”stormfront” (greeny grey) not black. Paint choice was lexicon 1/4 chosen to tone down red and yellow timber has backfired but I guess I will have to live with it for a while now. I have put out request for interior designer on houzz but no response yet Yes, I guess I was leaning toward an Aussie bush theme initially hence all the wood. My thninking being, to do something that wasnt in fashion then it couldnt go out of fashion. Now, all I want is something that works and doesnt clash! All suggestions greatly appreciated.
