Natural Play Spaces create opportunities for children to experience both risk and challenge and can also be a safe place for children to explore. At Ryan Young Design- we focus on using organic and natural material that allows for multiple uses when designing natural playspaces. Simple and natural materials that are easy to use eco-friendly. The natural play space can be created in the domestic space as well as public - using materials such as rocks, boulders, sand, logs/ tree stumps ...and clever design! Rocks & Boulders Cleverly arranged rocks and boulders can allow children to healthy learn a vital part of play. The hardness of rocks and boulders can allow children to develop their own sense of care and safety when they play on them.

Stumps and Tree Cookies Very versatile and easy to move around to use in different ways to create paths, define or enclose space, to sit on, to use as play surfaces or to add to an obstacle course.

Logs Some designs can use logs as balancing beams, structural support, fencing, and enclosures.

Sand Appeals to children of all ages and is one of nature's endlessly intriguing open-ended sensory materials.
