Bathroom layout options - need help deciding
Comments (7)there isn't enough space for any complex arrangements and a simple neat small bathroom and separate laundry will be so much easier to use if you make sure that all the fixtures are sized to suit ie 90cm wide vanities for bath and ensuite with in wall mirror doored wall cabinets will enhance the feeling of spaciousness and hinged doors are great for extra towel rails and coat hooks as sliding doors would need need thicker walls, restrict attachment of towel rails and interrupt electrical wiring and plumbing and how low is the bulk head??? shower should fit OK as long as the bulk head is no lower than door height and even a bathtub with handheld shower is still better than a shared bathroom laundry open to the back door...best of luck...See MoreMaster Ensuite layout Option 1 or 2 - HELP PLEASE
Comments (11)Another thought with a large picture window to the view from the bath. I think the powder room will be your husbands choice over the loo in the ensuite. A couple of other thoughts if you haven't already built. I would change the entrance to the Media and in particular not have it directly opposite the doorway into the powder room, I also don't think it necessary to have a another door within te powder room. I have played with the access into the kitchen making it more open and also allowing for a simpler access to the pantry, you could even swing the fridge sideways so that it faces and opens into the pantry space The Laundry, family bath and porch changes so that coming in off the property gives easy access to both spaces, just my thoughts...See MoreNew build layout options - elevated house, two wings separated by deck
Comments (26)Hi oklouise, Thanks for your input again, and the recommendation of yourhome.gov.au. I had viewed this website some time ago, and the information on there is now much more comprehensive. A lot of articles I had read about housing in the tropics were coming out of India and other Asian countries. I really like how you've offset the two wings, and I think this will help with cross ventilation and directing breeze through the house. With the offset, the living wing would be able to look into the backyard, but could also have a view of the front gate (an idea advised by siriuskey). I'm liking the idea of a ground floor entryway and internal stairs, but I think I would locate it on the bottom of the living wing. I think we would park under the bedroom wing (carport, not garage), and then walk under cover of the deck to the entry. Internal stairs on the left-most side of the living wing, will lead up to the living wing in a kitchen/dining/living configuration (maybe similar to your previous plan). Cheers, Adnan...See MoreOpen floor plan layout options and fireplace location - help please!
Comments (4)I agree with comments made. You need to do a large scale plan and put all your furniture needs in place and play around with various options. You can't put a TV over the wood fireplace so this will need to be considered. Do you want to orientate your living furniture to look outwards? In which case, you probably want the TV on the outside wall too, to reduce reflection on it and have a single direction of focus. You could have the fireplce central, between the dining and living room so the heat is easily spread around. It could be a double sided one in that location. Don't forget though that the kitchen is also a source of heat. Do you want it as a free standing fireplace or situated on a wall? Do you want it also to be a focal point or more functional with the possibility of putting the winter soup pot on top? Do you want to be able to sit on the hearth on those really yucky cold days? Do you need to keep children safe from the hot surfaces etc? Work out your priorities and the location will probably fall into place. Good luck, C....See Moresiriuskey
