What did you think when you first saw Marsala - Colour Of The Year?
Comments (34)The next time I decorate by a colour of the year will be the first time. Don't hold your breath. I have nothing against this particular colour but it doesn't work with all the things I've collected over the years, and I am not about to discard carpets bought after hard bargaining with dubious merchants in Istanbul or Islamabad because they don't "go" with a paint colour that someone voted "colour of the year." In its place, I think the colour would be quite nice (better than this years choices, certainly). It's just that my place isn't the right place for it....See MorePOLL: How often do you redecorate in your home?
Comments (25)I love to change soft furnishings and some decorative items in our family room and master bedroom for summer/winter. In summer I have a lot of white/sand/soft blues with a beachy theme: blue glass, seashells - light and bright. Winter brings out the reds/orange/fuchsias etc. Some of the wall artwork is also changed. I just change the cushion covers, and things like bed linen/bedspread etc. Also the wall decoration behind the bed to tone with the new theme. I don't go out and buy new stuff as I find this method very refreshing ... and it seems 'new' each season! I should add that I have neutral backgrounds and furnishings so that I can do this easily. Even greenery and different floral arrangements enhance the respective themes....See MorePOLL: Which 2016 Colour Palette from Dulux is your favourite?
Comments (13)And therein lies the perpetual issue chookchook2 ! Desktop, tablet and mobile screens all display colour slightly differently and different desktop printers produce different results. You'd think that with a name like 'Tardis Blue' your favourite colour might well sit within 'Infinite Worlds' but in fact a quick look at our Dulux Colour Atlas reveals the closest to it is 'Deep Sapphire' which is part of 'Retro Mix' palette. Until there's a digital fix, for accuracy, all critical colour communication needs to be based on actual paint chips, or those of colour authorities such as Pantone....See MoreWhat's your take on the new Pantone Colours of 2016?
