Relocating washing machine taps

What can I expect to pay a plumber to hide the taps and swap my washing machine and sink positions? Is it worth it? They are next to each other and still will be but I think it will work better if they are flipped.

you'll also need to add on the cost of a new counter and/or whole new cabinet and counter and to replace the damaged tiles when you move the taps and it would also be good to hang the dryer directly off the wall and maybe add some wall cabinet or shelves for all the cleaning products and maybe the power point should be moved and are there tiles under the old cabinet? but, assuming no unexpected problems and you have the old cabinet rebuilt or a new cabinet built with the new counter and to allow for extending the sink drainage sideways and ready to reinstall it would hopefully be under $750 for the plumber plus new taps and fittings (although you should be able to reuse the old sink and taps) cabinetmaker, tiler and electrician ..but with careful planning the plumber might be able to do all their work on the same day but all depends on condition of the existing cabinet and how long it takes to have the new cabinet ready and precise location of the existing plumbing...only way to know for sure is to arrange for some quotes but you need more than just a plumber so maybe it would be worthwhile to contact a bathroom company that can organised all the different trades and coordinate everyone to do their part in the right order

You will need more than a plumber to do all that. The plumbers costs will depend if you are re-using the existing fittings, or getting new, as well as the type of wall. Is it brick or plasterboard? Your plumber will also need to relocate the sink waste, sois it going into a slab, or timber sub floor? Your plumber won't repair the damaged plasterboard, move the cabinetwork, or retile, so by the time you get the other trades out for such a small job it will cost you a lot for a small improvement.

@dreamer Ha, I was embarrassed by how messy this pic was, that's why I didn't put it in the initial post. Yes, the power lead is absolutely gone - we just moved in a couple of weeks ago and everything in the wrong place! Thank you for your concern :) I was pretty sure that the measurements didn't allow for them to be side by side, but I'm going to look into that. If we can do that with enough airflow underneath for the ventilation, that would be a good solution. The patio has a roof but the left side of the photo (where the very overgrown grass is) does get wet in rain, so not sure if the side by side machines would work for that reason too. @Kate Yes, it's exposed on the side. We just wanted to find a laundry solution at this time - we are also planning on updating the kitchen and bathroom this year, but had initially thought that we would do that by just updating cabinets/appliances (and just re-siliconing and freshening up the bathroom). We are not against a bigger renovation but obviously have some cost limitations and are trying to do what makes the most sense.

I know it would get more complicated and probably be more expensive , but basically you are trying to get too much in there IMO . Everything is a compromise , and in fact , even if you had say a garage with power and water on , and moved the laundry there , you are losing both an inside laundry and a bath , to get the luxury of an en-suite . Lose 2 things to gain 1 in my opinion , so unless your main focus is an ensuite at all costs , it doesn't make a lot of sense . Me , I'd either live with it as it is , or depending on rules , regulations , present construction ( brick , weatherboard , etc ) , boundaries , even whether raised or ground-level -- I'd look at adding on , even if its a step up from a lean to -- I know its a 90's sort of thing , but an ensuite attached from either Bed 1 or 2 would possibly make at least as much sense .

Hi Souzette, Front loaders look great but can be a pain, We still like to soak things in the sink and getting anything like a sheet into the machine if it's not next to the sink becomes messy, so seeing that we try to avoid using the dryer we have the washer next to the sink Our preferred way to dry things most of the year is on the clothes line or on the retractable line we have above the bench and in front of the window But then we all do things differently, and you live in a colder area. I would think existing is better noting washer opens away from sink. I would stack dryer on washer and put empty baskets on top of dryer. Then add a small cabinet or shelf above sink for detergents

I would keep layout the same. To have the washing and dryer in the middle of the space would be "unusual ".
Invest in new lower cabinetry. Maybe install overhead cupboards, because it appears you have no where to put your laundry product, then baskets can go on top of washing machine, to give you some clear bench space.
