Moving into a 1950's fibro cottage soon, and struggling a bit with where to place furniture in the living room. Things that are essential for this room are:
If an armchair or two were possible that would also be fantastic.
Or remove elephant in the room
Without sizes of the furniture and the wall sizes it's almost impossible to suggest much .
IF everything is to scale , you probably can't have a 3 seater couch , because even if you put it along the 'picture window' side , there doesn't look to be much room for a TV and cabinet , and definitely not speakers and turntable , on the opposite wall .
Spin 90 degrees , and the TV would go between the entry and bedroom doors , but the fire is in the way of a couch position ( 2 armchairs would be okay by the looks ) ; likewise the couch along by the window is then at a strange angle to everything , but the stereo along the other wall may work , although wiring behind the fire mightn't be best .
Maybe bench seat between entry and bed doors, seats either side of fire. Two seater couch under window. Tv opp.

Thanks for the comments so far, in terms of furniture sizes, we have a completely bank slate for this. A new couch is going to be bought, and other than the TV and record player, all other furniture is also negotiable.
What I find helpful is to pick furniture I like then cut out scale replicas and put on plan. Play with layout and see if size works with all your components in place,
It says you have an opening to the kitchen and also a doorway. Could you give up one of those entry points to the kitchen?
