Bathroom window covering.
Comments (45)I also have a window like that in our shower - it may, but doesn't normally get wet from the shower. I have put in a thin venetian blind in white (made from plastic) very cheap, under $5. I am in process of making an puffy austrian blind to hang above the window, for a bit of colour I am making it from a shower curtain). It will be there for looks, I may never pull it down. The venetian gives privacy and blocks the light a certain amount....See MoreYour thoughts on using sliding doors as windows??
Comments (24)A sliding door is just a big window, and if correctly built in (check if the glass is the correct sized for the door if a bit old) with the correct sized lintels this should not be a big problem as the loads would be transferred to the sides, allowing the door to slide easily. Silicon spray (being a Yachtie were we use this stuff everywhere), we now use silicone spray on all our windows in our 1930 home and the windows glide across with one finger before they used to tilt when trying to open them. I would place the door head up to line up with the others and one thing you might consider is placing a window seat, (rebate the bottom channels into the window seat) and have the window seat in and out, place a cushion over the entire seat, should be fantastic and if the deck is built, than no balustrade is required. If it is a stacker slider, i would do the seat for the entire length. So instead of looking a bit funny they will think it was supposed to be like that. We should all think outside the square more often. RAM...See MoreWhat's your biggest design regret?
Comments (51)Our apartment is perfect for my partner and I as we love monochrome, soft colours and grey! The owners before us loved the red and black combo so added a HUGE red glass panel stuck onto the black caesarstone splashback as a feature. They did something similar in the bathroom over marble (gasp!) and in the study they replaced the inbuilt black wooden desk with red wood laminate. As it is super expensive to replace marble and caeserstone it is something we can't do right now and have to live with it. I tend to block it out of my mind... It's horrid....See MoreWindow size and placement to maximise light?
Comments (7)Thanks for all your suggestions. I love that sunroof, very cool! Definitely beyond our budget though. We have got a combination of windows and stacked sliders onto the alfresco, I've got the sliders coming from the two rooms so that it can open into one large entertaining space as our family grows up - but perhaps it is overkill. It might look like a lot of living space relative to bedrooms but the 'rumpus' room is really a multipurpose study/guest/games room as we have regular house guests. It will work well for us. I love plantation shutters too - definitely in the plan for front of house. I'm thinking discreet blinds for the open plan area currently, but I'll wait until it's all built to ensure its right for the space - so many decisions to make...See Morebargainhunter
