Backup ideas for master bedroom layout
Comments (15)Well, here's a concrete example for him. Our bed is 2200. The wall at the end of the bed is 3200 from the wall at the head. I decided it was too tight to get my 500 dresser in at the end of the bed, so I put in a 300 bookcase. The space between bed and bookcase (ie 700) is fine - not ideal, maybe, but entirely workable. Don't sweat the small stuff. Your plan looks fine, and you've got room at the end of your bed for a nice sitting area....See MoreHelp for my Master Bedroom please
Comments (23)I have been looking on Houzz and got a couple of ideas for the bedside tables (without spending anything!) .. Please let me know your opinions on the following... Attack the existing ones with a sander and take off half of the white paint, exposing the dark brown underneath, and making them look like they are meant to be shabby. Take them both out of the room and replace with a stack of vintage suitcases on the door side and an old weathered timber folding chair on the window side (got these in storage so wouldn't cost anything!). The chair would have to have something on top like a box to hide the usual bedside table clutter in, I guess. 3. Any other suggestions? Don't want to spend any money here if I can help it! I have access to plenty of old pallets which people seem to make amazing things out of but don't know if that would be too rustic in this room?...See MoreMaster bedroom windows design advice please
Comments (5)I’d put bed on side wall without windows, May give u space for a chair At the windows. Door or no door. Have a look at the facade presentation from the deck with both options. Then consider how often you will use the door. Look at view lines from bed. Wil the corner obstruct view anyway, so is it just access. Also I note that the en-suite May be closest toilet to pool..... will you be having a drying rack on deck for wet towels and bathers. Etc. no definitive answer as your choice, i note I have a sun room in same position as your bedroom. We went the extra sliding door and never use it. But haven’t said thatI wouldnt change it As it works with my facade....See MoreMaster Bedroom Addition Floor Plan Help
Comments (13)Thanks very much Paul, I really appreciate your ideas and feedback. We like your plan and agree this plan gives us a more practical user space. We're really focused on making it all "feel" right and would also consider how this canterlever out over the existing master bedroom would feel/look from the verandah and living area looking out. We're also extending the study out towards the side boundary by just over a metre and removing the existing linen to increased bedroom 2. Bedroom 3 will be the kids chill out room/spare room and the other child will move to the original master. New Linen will be under the new stairs and we're also building some storage into the study and extending the garage to the front boundary by 1 metre. We dont' feel like we need another living area (or massive house to clean) as we already have two separate living areas and bedroom 3 will be for the kids to hang out in. And this is why I originally posted (and which you've clearly identified) - because I'm stuck between having a limited use gallery landing to provide volume and drama in the stairs, and as you say I don't want to kick myself for not making the gallery area a more practical space. I know other families with parents retreats that never use them, so I'm conscious of this too. I think I was probably hoping to achieve the same footprint with the nook a little wider. I thought last night I could reduce the ensure/robe depth to 2.2 to 2.5 (and increase the nook to 1.7 to 2.0) by moving the toilet to the end of the shower. Maybe this would work as a compromise....See Moresiriuskey
