Dana Veach, I will, and thanks. Nothing happens very fast with my project, as it's very hard to get any help where I live, but I hope someday I'll have a finished house to show off. The building began life as my horse barn.

I empathize, maggierateye! And I have the utmost respect for your efforts toward a home of your own. My Sis and I embarked on building a small cabin for ourselves some 6 years ago. The "cabin" began life as a 16' x 40' wooden utility shed. We are doing 98% of the labor ourselves (71 yrs of age and 66 yrs. respectively...) because, like you, we can't get anyone in our area who wants to work on such a "small" project...all while raising a small herd of Nubian Dairy Goats, 2 Livestock Guardian Dogs, and a dozen chickens. (We'd have horses, but they aren't in the current budget!) We also have a garden to raise as much of our own food as possible, and we've begun work toward a greenhouse. We just got indoor plumbing...a real honest to goodness bathroom...in August of this year. We're up to just over 900 sq. ft., 1/3 of which has porcelain tile floors, sheetrock walls, and tongue and groove ceilings. Like you, we hope for a "finished" home some day. You have to start somewhere...or just spend your life "wishing!" If I'd understood that concept earlier in my life, I might be farther along toward achieving some of the 'wished for" goals!
