This kitchen was part of an addition/renovation of the entire home. High on the client’s priorities list was countertop seating, a large island, two sink areas, a desk area and lots of countertop space. We had significant input to the window placement to take advantage of natural light and views. The refrigerator is strategically placed so that it can simultaneously support the chef’s area from that of all other kitchen occupants. This creates various work stations in the kitchen and prevents any one space from getting overloaded by multiple users. The large space allowed for the opportunity to define the various work spaces and cabinetry with different wood species and paint colors. The open shelves above the windows add a strong horizontal balance to the vertical pantry and refrigerator cabinets. Wood and stone countertops are married together on the island to define the various functions they serve. Photos: Ilir Rizaj

Traditional meets today in this beautiful kitchen remodel. A fresh color palette transforms this kitchen to meet this modern family’s needs. Thoughtful cabinetry design, with a large center island and rustic flooring are the key design elements. The challenge was to offer a traditional design with an emphasis on ease and functionality. The oversized refrigerator has a double freezer and all cabinets have multi-function storage built in. These are the ingredients that make this kitchen really cook. The Ben Heath bespoke window seat has been painted in a colour to compliment the blinds and to distinguish it from the kitchen cabinets although the design is the same. The dresser to the left has an oak oiled top with oak door fittings to provide extra storage space - maximising the use of walls in the small kitchen/diner. Superior Woodcraft's custom-made shaker cabinetry painted white is the foundation of this modern kitchen with marble counter tops. The integrated Wolf and Sub Zero appliances are cleverly concealed as furniture-like cabinetry. The two large cherry islands provide plenty of counter space and manage the flow of traffic in this larger kitchen. The design of the custom kitchen creates the feeling of being in a traditional living space as opposed to being in a messy kitchen. Photo Credit; Randl Bye

This homeowner wanted to make use of every possible space available so we added panels on the end that open into shallow adjustable shelves. This is ideal from storing spices to multivitamins and other small items that tend to get lost in larger pantries. WW Photography
