“We approached Centrum Architects back in December 2013 to design a substantial renovation to a heritage home in Flemington this home was in need of a complete restoration. We gave Andrew Rowe and Ken Charles a brief of what we would like the finished product to become and needless to say Andrews Design was exceptional and better than we could of dreamed. The Brief was that we would like the home to be restored to its former glory and we also wanted to create a modern extension that would be interesting and cater for a growing family. Andrew presented to us a design that was an exceptional use of space, modern and elegant with some fantastic unique features. The process was collaborative and very efficient with great communication between all parties. The renovation is currently underway and we are extremely excited to be partnered with Andrew, Ana, Ken and the team at centrum. We are looking forward to project completion in september 2015. I would not hesitate to recommend Andrew and Centrum Architects to anybody looking to create something special. Dylan Shirley”

“We had initial discussions with a number of architects before we met Jane from alsoCAN and were becoming rather downcast about our planned renovation to our house. None of the earlier architects seemed to listen to what we wanted and charged ahead with their own concepts. Jane was different she listened to our ideas and also our desire that any design should assist us to keep with in our prescribed budget so as to avoid over capitalisation. Our property had 100 years of modification and attachments to it one build upon another and by the time of our renovation it was a complicated multi-time period property. Jane was able to take the vision we had for the property and enhance that vision with her experience and creativity. Jane did this through listening meaningfully to her clients, employing her own professional skills and a good dose of practical judgment and tact in guiding her sometimes stubborn clients. After many revision we sorted through a complicated structure developing a design that maintained the older part of the house and included a completely new modern back section of the property that was done in a aesthetically appealing and complementary manner. With our Jane's professional assistance we would never have achiever the result that was finally constructed and certainly not within budget. No one that comes to our house for the first time fails to comment on what a beautiful home it is and is in large part because of Jane. We had never used an architect before but were reassured with Andrew's sound advice and guidance throughout the whole process. We were impressed with Andrew's creative ideas and cleverly integrated them into the design of our lovely new home. The building of our house also went smoothly. It was obvious that Andrew had a good relationship with the builder and tradesmen on site. Any issues that arose were quickly resolved. We now live in a way we could never have imagined when we think back to the empty block of land we had in the beginning. Our house is full of calm, sunny spaces that integrate well with the outside. Living here is a delight.”

“We engaged Tessellate for a renovation and extension to our family home. They really understood our needs and responded to our brief with a number of well thought out concepts which they went on to fine tune as we gave then feedback and further discussed how we would use the space and our lifestyle, before we came to the final design. Their ideas were practical and functional but also had a special design aspect that we would never have conceived of by ourselves. Steven Swain was very conscious of cleverly making use of the current structure to manage costs. We had a very strict budget and we worked together to prioritise the areas we wanted to invest money in and where we could save without losing the overall vision of what we wanted to achieve. The drawing were detailed and well thought out and the team went above and beyond to help with questions and clarifications before and during the build and they had a personal investment and pride in the overall outcome. The outcome is a warm and inviting family home that is a delight to live in and regularly gets words of praise from our visitors. I would use Tessellate again without a doubt.”

“Nicola completed a number of projects on my house during the early part of 2014. The first was to design a colour scheme for painting the interior. My only brief was "not white". What she did throughout was sympathetic to the vintage of the house, yet interesting and modern. Everyone comments on the colours and how each area of the house relates to the next, without being uniform. I have had photo shoots in my home for interiors magazines particularly interested in the colours. The next project was my small inner city courtyard. Nicola's design here has made brilliant use of the space, and it now feels like a beautiful "room" of the house, even though it's outdoors. Finally the bathroom. Here Nicola ingeniously created a bathroom with shower over bath, vanity, and huge wall mirror, all in space just over 2m squared. I would say Nicola's particular skill with my house was to take its smallness, and make it feel like an asset rather than a liability!”
