A Lush Flower Garden

The design brief specifically focused on re-using existing plants recovered before demolition to the previous well-loved home and garden, in the new garden spaces. Frangipanis, Azaleas, Camellias, and Crepe Myrtles were among the existing plants which allowed many other flowering shrubs and groundcovers to combine in making this a flower garden which will have constant change over the seasons.
Structure was added by using lollipop standard shrubs at the front door to balance the height of new Plum trees, which will add bold foliage colour to the front garden.
A large gravel area showing off pavers laid in a structured pattern, creates a transition between the lawn and the flower beds. Once future growth creates shade along the back fence, a bench seat can be placed on the pavers to allow enjoyment of the garden.
A large urn planted with bold pink Mandevilla which will continue to flow over its edge , together with a corten steel laser cut screen behind, are the focal point of the back garden. As the background plants fill in the garden bed beyond, this accent will have a beautiful backdrop of green behind it. Soft grasses to its base will soften the gravel area.
Texture planting including lower plants such as Agapanthus, Dianella and other grass-like plants will ensure constant structural detail throughout.
The side garden allowed for shade loving plants such as tall Camellias, medium Azaleas, ferns and flowering Begonias to put on a show which will be appreciated year round through the large indoor windows.
