Cool Vibey Curves
This detailed design for a vibrant new architectural home with its crisp white breezeblock feature wall needed special attention to its entrance.
Being able to work with the client and builder on important details such as incorporating the front entrance with the driveway design, meant creating a large curve at the entrance which mimics the curved feature wall perfectly.
These curves begged for circular design elements to be added, thus two raised galvanised steel planters draw attention from the moment one arrives. The large shady Jacaranda was to remain, accentuating it with a circular steel base. Boulders add drama to the soft, yet bold planting palette, a mix of various greens and greys.
Narrow infills in the light-coloured driveway are filled with white summerstones, which have also been used extensively as mulch for larger areas of the garden. Low spreading groundcovers will soften these areas as they grow.
Suitable pot combinations for the front door, an inner courtyard and a large feature pot in the back garden were carefully selected to fit with my client’s decor style to achieve a cohesive overall outcome, tying the areas together as a whole.
A plant selection mimicking that of the front garden was proposed to the more formal back garden.
This installation was undertaken by the builder.
