Atrium Planting
Instead of removing the old pond and fountain from this tiny atrium in the center of the house, a unanimous decision was made that planting it with relevant plants would make all the difference - and yes, this quirky space is now again the attention seeking centerpiece of the home it was meant to be.
Visible from four glass walls throughout the home, the dingy brown courtyard was crying out for a makeover and some green. The Cycas will be a statement plant in the bowl for many years to come with Dichondra Silver Falls trailing over the edges giving the impression of falling water. Philodendron Xanadu at the base of the fountain add instant lushness.
Light grey coloured stepping pavers were used to create access around the pond, accentuated by black pebbles. Touches of purple colour from the Rhoeo leaves and the flowering Liriope Evergreen Giants around the perimeter of the glass windows add soft touches to the planting scheme. Overall it is a classic outcome for this courtyard and will be easy to maintain.
