Elegant Cottage Garden
The existing Jacaranda tree initiated the addition of lilac & purple hues, which together with crisp white flowering cottage style plants and neat hedges create a beautiful new planting scheme for this large open garden.
The hedges, as well as 6 tall 1.5m high standard Iceberg roses make up the new structured planting in the long garden beds below the verandah.
The garden bed leading to the entrance of the home was a clean canvas after all the existing plants and tree roots were removed. A section of rainbowstone mulch was introduced to add texture, the light colour of the stone accentuating this shadier part of the garden.
A circular rusted steel raised garden bed was installed where a huge stone pot, brimming with cascading white flowers, has become the focal point of the front entrance. Surrounding shrubs and groundcovers ensure year round interest. Soft grey foliage varieties achieve additional textures throughout.
Extending the long garden bed all the way to the driveway provided space for a new feature tree. A Snow Pear will provide shade in the summer and allow sunlight through during the colder months for the new plant selection at its base. These will soften the harsh lines of the old retaining wall and some utilities which are located within the garden bed.
