Modernisaton of 80s Home
Clients moved into their home a year prior to considering a renovation giving them time to understand their needs and orientation of the home. With their fourth child on the way, they decided to renovate and convert some areas to provide for an additional bedroom while also modernising the house overall.
Essentially, the large study space was split to provide both a study and fourth bedroom and the sitting was enlarged by moving the wall towards the kitchen and utilising the original bar. The kitchen was completely reconfigured and designed from scratch. Downstairs, the bathroom layout remained the same with a new look while the laundry was flipped to enable more storage.
The original cedar doors and ceilings were retained complementing the the style and era of the home. The choice of kitchen joinery and benchtop was selected to contrast against the existing marble floor tile creating an elegance to the overall open space. Specifically, a combination of Navurban Hamilton and
a 2pac finish in Natural White. The feature wall for the two fireplaces is warm and neutral giving balance to the rooms against the floor tiles and carpet.
Feature lighting in the sitting and living rooms is elegant, modern and make a statement to the large space together with sophisticated, neutral drapes.
Overall, the general style of the home is maintained with a modern twist and a sense of elegance added, while providing greater function to the overall home.
