Surrey Hills Transformation
This home was renovated about 10 years ago when my clients first moved in.
However, the floorplan did not meet their needs as a growing family and they engaged us to redesign the floorplan, select all materials and furnishings. In the redesign we achieved two living rooms, a kitchen with walk-in-pantry, a fitted study, 3-sided fireplace, and a dedicated entrance. The kitchen was moved to the centre of the home creating the two living zones at either end of the home. One with parkland views and the other with the proposed pool outlook. The entrance door was brought forward creating a clear entrance to the home while enabling additional space behind the entrance for a separate dining room which was brightened with the use of skylights. The study space stayed intact but is fitted out with custom joinery in a combination of Navurban Hamilton and Laminex Pearl Grey. The fireplace adjoins both the living and study space with an outlook to the other rooms through the glass sliding door divider. The floorboards are retained but repolished in a matt finish. To contrast the flooring, walls are white, specifically Dulux Natural White. Feature wall colour is Calf Skin and the introduction of timber in Black Japan/Hamilton achieves a sophisticated scene. The kitchen stays neutral with white 2pac joinery and Carrara
Quartz for the benchtop throughout. Textured tiles in Light Grey are used for the splashback in the pantry while a window splashback is used in the kitchen.
The furniture throughout complements the overall colour scheme with the use of dark timber, marble for the ETU benchtop and coffee table. Colour is introduced through the soft furnishings and artwork in a combination of blue and mustards tones. Feature lighting in select areas adds to the general interest and warmth of the rooms. And finally, sheer drapes in Mokum Antipodes Cloud complete the overall sophistication of the overall space creating warmth and softness to the rooms.
