The bathroom is a compact space with low ceilings, so I wanted to make it feel as light and airy as possible. I kept the colours natural, adding texture and special luxurious touches with the terrazzo, sheer curtain, fluted glass, and tiles. These rich but subtle details catch your eye, making the room feel bigger. The green glazed shower tiles pick up on the specks in the terrazzo floor tiles, and the Carrara marble skirting board adds luxury and creates another level of finish. I specified ABI Interiors matching brassware. Their electric heated individual towel rails can be turned on and off whenever you need them to save energy. The shower controls are located just outside the shower enclosure, so you can turn the shower on in advance and let it warm up a little before you enter. To maximise storage, I included an Aqua Roc basin with drawers underneath. The Carrara marble ledge and Tika Moon walnut wall unit provide even more space for my clients to stash things away. The freestanding bath and circular Spark and Bell wall lights add softness and curves. The sheer curtain is mounted on a wave track to give a lovely, rippled effect. I brought my signature serene design style to this Crouch End family bathroom, with a sleek modern edge. Inspired by my client’s Italian heritage, black marble was a starting point in my design process. The Otto Tiles “Slash” tiles combine two types of marble, giving a lighter, calmer feel than pure black, whilst making a graphic statement. They were laid out irregularly, with plain marble tiles, to look organic and not too uniform. I included curved pieces throughout the space to juxtapose the linear graphic statement tiles and mimic the shapes you find in the natural world for a softer, calmer feel. The shower has an underfloor tray with a slot drainage detail, so the floor tiles continue seamlessly at the same level. Fluted glass creates a division between the bath and shower whilst maintaining an elevated, open plan feel. The Ceramica Cielo sink is part of a modular system, which you can get in multiple finishes and configure your bespoke look. I opted for a black steel frame and walnut cabinet veneered in natural wood that brings the feel of nature into the space in a refined, sophisticated way The space was small and square originally, with a long corridor outside. Reconfiguring and removing part of a wall left us with a larger bathroom that could fit everything my clients wanted and a cupboard for their washer and dryer outside.
