Brunswick Parlour transforms a Victorian cottage into a hard-working, personalised home for a family of four. Our clients loved the character of their Brunswick terrace home, but not its inefficient floor plan and poor year-round thermal control. They didn't need more space, they just needed their space to work harder. The front bedrooms remain largely untouched, retaining their Victorian features and only introducing new cabinetry. Meanwhile, the main bedroom’s previously pokey en suite and wardrobe have been expanded, adorned with custom cabinetry and illuminated via a generous skylight. At the rear of the house, we reimagined the floor plan to establish shared spaces suited to the family’s lifestyle. Flanked by the dining and living rooms, the kitchen has been reoriented into a more efficient layout and features custom cabinetry that uses every available inch. In the dining room, the Swiss Army Knife of utility cabinets unfolds to reveal a laundry, more custom cabinetry, and a craft station with a retractable desk. Beautiful materiality throughout infuses the home with warmth and personality, featuring Blackbutt timber flooring and cabinetry, and selective pops of green and pink tones. The house now works hard in a thermal sense too. Insulation and glazing were updated to best practice standard, and we’ve introduced several temperature control tools. Hydronic heating installed throughout the house is complemented by an evaporative cooling system and operable skylight. The result is a lush, tactile home that increases the effectiveness of every existing inch to enhance daily life for our clients, proving that good design doesn’t need to add space to add value.

A kids' wing boasts a colorful playroom, a butterfly-themed bedroom, and a bath. The parents' wing includes a home office for two (which also doubles as a guest room), two walk-in closets, a master bedroom & bath. A family room leads to a gracious living/dining room for formal entertaining. A large eat-in kitchen and laundry room complete the space. Style Revamp Finish Carpentry

Who loves laundry? I'm sure it is not a favorite among many, but if your laundry room sparkles, you might fall in love with the process. Style Revamp had the fantastic opportunity to collaborate with our talented client @honeyb1965 in transforming her laundry room into a sensational space. Ship-lap and built-ins are the perfect design pairing in a variety of interior spaces, but one of our favorites is the laundry room. Ship-lap was installed on one wall, and then gorgeous built-in adjustable cubbies were designed to fit functional storage baskets our client found at Costco. Our client wanted a pullout drying rack, and after sourcing several options, we decided to design and build a custom one. Our client is a remarkable woodworker and designed the rustic countertop using the shou sugi ban method of wood-burning, then stained weathered grey and a light drybrush of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in old white. It's beautiful! She also built a slim storage cart to fit in between the washer and dryer to hide the trash can and provide extra storage. She is a genius! I will steal this idea for future laundry room design layouts:) Thank you @honeyb1965

Boulder Terra Linear Blend tile was used for the backsplash and washer outlet box cover. On the floor 12x24 Mediterranean Essence tile in Bronze finish was installed. Consider a custom-built cupboard for an ironing board, so it can easily fold out when you need it, or mount the ironing board directly to the wall or on the back of a door. A retractable clothesline is a handy addition to dry delicate clothes, while a clothes hanger mounted to the wall is ideal for hanging freshly pressed shirts.

What else can I use my laundry for?
